Whenever you take an antibiotic it not only kills the bacteria that is making you ill, it also kills the beneficial bacteria living in your digestive system. Stomach and bowel problems along with yeast overgrowth in women, commonly occur as an adverse effect of antibiotic use. To help keep these from occurring, supplementing with a probiotic Lactobacillus acidophilus is recommended, this beneficial bacteria is also found in yogurt.
Allergies and sinus conditions.
Excess mucus production occurs with allergies and sinus infections causing runny nose and or post nasal drip. Allergens and irritants lodge in the nose and sinus cavities causing constant irritation and inflammation. A good way to naturally help reduce or relieve the symptoms is wash them away with nasal irrigation or sinus rinses. This is accomplished by ether using a Neti Pot, or a NeliMed squeeze bottle nasal irrigator. Fill the irrigator with warm water (close to body temperature) mix 1/8 teaspoon of a 50/50 mixture of non iodized salt and baking soda to the water, pour or spray into each nostril letting the water flow out the other nostril, repeat on the other side. This can be done daily, and during the bad seasons, two or three times a day would be beneficial. Using a saline nasal spray to help keep the sinuses moist between rinses will also help.

Statin cholesterol medication.
Statin medication is used to decrease your cholesterol by blocking enzymes that control cholesterol production. They also decrease the body's synthesis of Coenzyme Q-10. Co Q10 is an anti occident that helps prevent free radical formation which damages your cells, it is also is a main component of your cells mitochondria, which is involved with ATP production, (your bodies energy units). This is one of the reasons many people experience muscle pain and fatigue when taking statin medication. Supplementing with Co Q10 can help with some of the adverse effects of statin medication. Always talk to your doctor before taking any medication or supplement.
Many people with arthritis pain find some relief by taking glucosamine and chondroitin. These substances are part of normal cartilage which is the cushion between the bones in a joint. The pain relief experienced by some patients is similar to improvement in pain with patients taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAIDS) medications (Advil, Aleve). NSAIDS do have certain side effects such as gastrointestinal upset, and bleeding, and there is an indication that NSAIDs may increase the progression of arthritis, whereas glucosamine and chondroitin may offer a more protective effect to the cartilage surface. Glucosamine and chondroitin have few side effects; however people who are allergic to shellfish should use caution because they may have an allergic reaction. It is worthwhile to try these supplements for your arthritic pain, however, if do not see improvement in symptoms within a month or two, it is likely they will not be beneficial. Always talk to your doctor before taking any medication or supplement.
